Best type of websites for mobile phones and browsers

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

The reality is that within just a few years, many if not most people will be web surfing from their phones.  Data plan costs will be dropping and devices will continue to shrink yet be ever more powerful.

So I’m wondering today- what is the best type of website or webpage for mobile phones and browsers?

I know that the width must be narrow.

But what about different programming language? Do mobile phones like html more than css?

How much does CompTIA A+ certification cost?

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

So your trying to find out how much CompTIA A+ certification costs? If you’re like me, the internet is a black hole when it comes to this topic. There are so many weird sites that pop up when you look for CompTIA classes or A+ certification.
Well listen, the good news is the tests cost the same for everyone. It’s the classes that are so messy.
You can study on your own, use an online class or do hands on training. If you study for the A+ at home, then you only need to pay for all the books. You might want to estimate from $800-1000 for those. If you do an online course, you can be anywhere from $1000-1500. And if you do the hands on, get ready to pay $4000 and up!!
Update: My friend just took the class. I’m not going to be a jerk and say through whom, but all they did was watch DVDs each class. He said to skip the class and study yourself!

WebCam for dummies is Crap

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

It just pisses me off when you go out of your way to do something for a specific reason and it doesn’t fucking work out.

Let’s say that you spend 100 bucks to buy a nikon tripod because you thought you needed that specific one. Little did you know, you could have bought ANY tripod because there is a universal size for camera mounts and the dick at best buy never mentioned it.

Anyway, so my girlfriend bought her dad the webcam for dummies (model 49052-DM). She bought it for the exact reason anyone would buy the items labeled in this brand.

We’ve been working on it for a week now. Not only is the actual webcam a complete piece of crap, it doesn’t install properly on any of our computers. I didn’t go to MIT, but I would say I know more about computers than anyone I know and I can’t get it to work. The thing is made by Sakar..which makes a variety of cheap Chinese shit. Their website sucks and responding to our email, sent us back the contents of the installation CD.

Do you have a problem with the Webcam for dummies? Talk smack here..you don’t need to register (or even use a real e-mail) to comment.  Also, if you have the drivers for the webcam for dummys, POST A LINK!

How to get MMS on the M88 mobile phone with windows mobile 6

Monday, December 8th, 2008

I ended up buying an iphone clone off ebay. Its called the M88 or MiPhone and it’s running windows mobile 6. It probably has dozens of other names too as most things in China are made exactly the same, but by different companies and under different names.

I’m fond of the iphone, but I’m reluctant to pay the $40 a month data plan.  On top of that, I’m planning on doing a fair bit of traveling in the future and I needed something that was unlocked and was capable of different bands, so I settled on the M88.  I’ll skip a review and post how to get AT&T / Cingular MMS or multimedia messaging on the M88.

1. Locate the Arcsoft mms composer program. I found it by googling different keywords. I ended up finding version 5.0.31.7 for free.

2. Install the program to the phone (not the memory card)

3. Restart the phone

4. Open Messaging. You will notice that it now says SMS / MMS where it used to read SMS

5. Click SMS /MMS and then the menu in the bottom right.

6. Go into MMS Options. Under “Servers”, delete the default settings and create a new one. The name is not important and I named mine AT&T MMS

7. Enter the following values:

Server name: AT&T MMS, Gateway: wireless.cingular.com, Port number 80, Server address http://mmsc.cingular.com, Connect via *This is could be different, check step 9, Send limit 200k, Wap version 2.0    Save and exit

8. Go into settings and then connections

9.  I only have one network which by default is called My Work Network. Go into manage existing connections and click new.

Name MMS, Modem leave blank, access point name: wap.cingular, user name password and domain are all blank. Click advanced. Check “use server-assigned IP” and “use IP header compression”  Finish

10. Thats it! You should now have MMS for Att working on your Miphone! Actually, my directions will probably help anyone get MMS on a phone running windows mobile. Any questions? You should be able to ask below.
